Ever wondered what a private wine tour in Oregon is really like? Picture this: rolling vineyard views, world-class wines, and an expert local guide who handles every detail so all you have to do is sip, relax, and enjoy. That’s exactly what a day with A Vineyard Wine Tour feels like — easy, elegant, and completely customizable.
A Relaxed Start to the Day
Your adventure begins with pickup right from your lodging — no need to stress about driving or directions. We’ll welcome you aboard our comfortable vehicle stocked with water, snacks, and even a few special touches from your host, Niki, who curates a delicious picnic-style lunch from local favorites. It’s the perfect way to fuel up between tastings!
What to Expect at the Wineries
A private wine tour means your day is built entirely around you. Want to focus on Pinot Noir? Prefer crisp whites and vineyard views? We’ll design a route that matches your palate, whether that means boutique family-run estates or the iconic names you’ve seen on wine lists around the world. Expect warm welcomes, relaxed pacing, and time to truly enjoy each stop.
Most tasting fees in the Willamette Valley range from $25–$50 per person, depending on the winery and experience. Some higher-end wineries may charge closer to $75, and a few also offer fantastic paired tasting options for approximately $150 per person. Many wineries may waive tasting fees with a bottle purchase or if you opt to join a wine club. Both are great options as you'll most likely fall in love with that perfect Pinot.
What to Wear
Oregon wine country is beautifully casual — think comfortable, layered clothing and flat shoes (you might walk through vineyards or gravel driveways). A light jacket or sweater is smart, even in summer, since morning fog or breezes can sneak in. Sunglasses and sunscreen are must-haves for outdoor tastings, and a small tote or wine carrier is handy if you plan to bring bottles home. A Vineyard Wine Tour can also provide wine totes, wine bubble bags for packing bottles into your suitcase, or even packaging and shipping assistance.
What to Bring
While we take care of nearly everything — from drinks to snacks — it’s nice to bring:
A reusable water bottle (though we have plenty on board!)
A jacket-it's Oregon, after all
Your ID (wineries will ask)
A phone or camera for those gorgeous vineyard views (we take photos for you too!)
Curiosity and an open palate
Wine Tasting Etiquette
Wine tasting doesn’t have to be intimidating! Here are a few quick pointers:
Pace yourself. Sip, don’t gulp. Hydrate between stops.
Don’t wear strong perfume or cologne. It interferes with aromas.
Ask questions. Winemakers love sharing their craft — no question is too simple.
Spit buckets are totally normal. Professionals use them all the time.
Buy what you love. There’s no pressure — but supporting small wineries makes a big difference.
